Andrea Simpson-Fowler is the Executive Director and Founder of the Heart of Riverdale. The Heart was created to add to the Yukon’s already vibrant arts community by providing a supportive space for artists of all ages and abilities. The Heart’s main goal is to help people feel welcomed, develop their creative skills, and actively participate in the arts scene in Whitehorse.
The Heart of Riverdale offers excellent arts programming in many areas, including dance, music, visual arts, and theatre. Programs are carefully designed to support everyone—from young children just starting their artistic journey, to adults who wish to improve their skills or try something new. The licensed arts preschool and afterschool program is helping to introduce children to the joy of art from an early age.
Andrea is currently working on her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with a focus on how the arts build resilience and strengthen communities. Her vision includes using art to help people become confident, capable, connected, compassionate, and caring community members. Andrea and the Heart of Riverdale remain dedicated to supporting artists throughout their lives, creating a community where everyone can explore, grow, and succeed.
