Beat Street is part of our ultimate Street Styles dance program for kids. This one of a kind program teaches the foundations of hip hop through lessons in the popular style of breakdance, which we call “breaking.” Beat Street also includes lessons in other street dance styles such as hip hop, popping, locking, and house. This program includes more classes per week than our recreational programs, as well as additional battle and performance opportunities. Beat Street focuses on the dancer as an individual and encourages young dancers to discover their personal identity as an artist through creative practice. Our incredible teachers have studied with the best breakers/bboys and hip hop dancers across North America and the world. Conveniently scheduled Monday to Friday between 4 and 6pm, Beat Street can be accessed through our Full Time After School Arts Program!

Performances & Commitments:
The Heart is committed to excellent Arts Programming and we ask for the same commitment from our students. In order for the students, along with the rest of their class, to benefit from the programming, regular attendance to classes is required.
Prices include yearly tuition and a costume/production performance fee. Monthly instalment plans over 11 months are available and include a 5% instalment charge. The first payment is due the day of registration, and subsequent payments are due on the 1st of each month from October 1st to June 1st.
*Please note that the monthly prices stated are NOT monthly payments - they are instalments as all participants must commit to the full year.
A late registration fee of $40 will be effective after August 26, 2024.
Aims of the Beat Street Program:
- To provide dancers with the opportunity to complete weekly conditioning in order to gain the strength they need to achieve advanced skills and to properly prepare them for competition and performance;
- To provide dancers with the opportunity to try many styles of street dance;
- To provide dancers with opportunity to perform in the community;
- To inspire children to challenge themselves physically, creatively, and intellectually, and to realize their potential as dancers, choreographers, and collaborators;
- To teach life skills such as cooperation, project management, leadership, goal setting, community building, team work, peer mentorship, developing a sense of identity, and the value of skills development and how it relates to confidence and success.

Required Dance Clothing & Supplies for all Beat Street Students:
Please make sure your dancer has all of these items for their classes and performances, and assist them to arrive at the studio a few minutes early for each class with everything they need. Classes begin Tuesday, August 27, 2024; the first scheduled performance is in January 2025.
