PROGRAMMING STARTS AUGUST 27TH, 2024
Classical Squad is part of our Studio Styles program, which includes traditional studio dance styles such as classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz. Participants will become proficient in the foundations of these dance styles, while developing skills in technique, ensemble work, and performance quality. Classical Squad offers more classes per week than our recreational programs, as well as extra performances at the Yukon Arts Centre. Our instructors hold certification and degrees in dance and performance and are the first in the Yukon to be able to prepare young dancers for examinations in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) classical ballet syllabus. For dancers wishing to pursue training in jazz dance or classical ballet and to eventually join our pre-professional program (Focus, and Fly), we recommend the Classical Squad program. Conveniently scheduled Monday to Friday between 4 and 6pm, Classical Squad can be accessed through our Full Time After School Arts Program!

Performances & Commitments:
The Heart is committed to excellent Arts Programming and we ask for the same commitment from our students. In order for the students, along with the rest of their class, to benefit from the programming, regular attendance to classes is required.
Prices include yearly tuition and a costume/production performance fee. Monthly instalment plans over 11 months are available and include a 5% instalment charge. The first payment is due the day of registration, and subsequent payments are due on the 1st of each month from September 1st to June 1st.
*Please note that the monthly prices stated are NOT monthly payments - they are instalments as all participants must commit to the full year.
A late registration fee of $40 will be effective after August 26, 2024.
Aims of the Classical Squad Program:
- To provide training that will adequately prepare children for the Pre-Professional Program;
- To provide an intermediary option for dancers who want to dance more than what the recreational program offers, but not as much training as is offered by the Pre-Professional Program;
- To provide dancers with opportunity to perform in the community;
- To inspire children to challenge themselves physically, creatively, and intellectually, and to realize their potential as dancers, choreographers, and collaborators;
- To teach life skills such as cooperation, project management, leadership, goal setting, community building, team work, peer mentorship, developing a sense of identity, and the value of skills development and how it relates to confidence and success.

Required Dance Clothing & Supplies for all Classical Squad Students:
Please make sure your dancer has all of these items for their classes and performances, and assist them to arrive at the studio a few minutes early for each class with everything they need. Classes begin Tuesday, August 27, 2024; the first scheduled performance is in January 2024.
