Health and Wellness Policy
At The Heart of Riverdale, the health, safety, and well-being of our students, families, and staff are our top priorities. To help us maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone, we kindly ask that parents and guardians keep their child home if they have any contagious or spreadable condition, including but not limited to:
Respiratory Illnesses: If your child has symptoms such as a fever, persistent cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, they should remain home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication.
Viral or Bacterial Infections: Children with infections such as chickenpox, hand-foot-mouth disease, pink eye, strep throat, or similar contagious illnesses should stay home until they are no longer contagious and, if necessary, have clearance from a healthcare professional.
Gastrointestinal Symptoms: Children experiencing vomiting or diarrhea should remain home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours.
Other Spreadable Conditions: Conditions such as lice, scabies, ringworm, and impetigo should be treated and cleared before a child returns to our programs to prevent the spread to others.
If your child displays signs of illness or a contagious condition during their time at The Heart of Riverdale, we will contact you promptly to arrange for them to be picked up.
We understand that managing illness can be challenging, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy, supportive community. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our community safe and well.
