ADULT BALLET:
for students 16 and up
Ballet helps improve strength, posture, flexibility and balance. Students will build their classical ballet vocabulary and work to coordinate “port de bras” (movement of the arms and head) with movements of the legs and feet. Classes typically begin at the barre where students work on the foundations of ballet technique. The barre is followed by centre work where participants work on turns and travelling sequences to develop grace and musicality.

(for students 16+)
We offer our beginner/intermediate Adult Ballet classes in a sessional format. Each session will include a free workshop followed by 4, 5 or 6 classes. Each ballet class is followed by a 30-minute pre-pointe/pointe class (no pointe experience is necessary but three years of ballet experience are required). Registration for ballet and pointe are separate as the classes can be taken independently. The sessions will progress in difficulty over the year, however all sessions are open-level and all are welcome to join! These classes do not include a performance in the year-end show.

This is an intermediate-level class that builds on the skills developed in the sessional Adult Ballet classes (Mondays). This class will be divided into two sessions: the first session (September-December) will focus solely on technique while the second session (January-May) will focus primarily on choreography and performance. Students are welcome to drop-in to the first session. Students participating in the second session will perform in The Heart's Classical Ballet production as part of the year-end show in May/June. Class participants are not required to perform, however they should be aware that the focus of the second session is preparing a piece for the Classical Ballet production, and that a portion of each class will be dedicated to learning and practicing the piece (dancers can learn and practice the choreography without committing to performing it in the show - but we encourage everyone to perform as it is a valuable experience)! If you are interested in this class but are unsure if it is right for you, please send us an email or give us a call!
**Please note that we do not offer the option of monthly payments for sessional classes**
